At Planeta Foundation we are very pleased to present an organization called Junglekeepers that is active in an area of the Peruvian Amazon called Madre de Dios. It includes a watershed called Las Piedras which is one of the most biodiverse and pristine places on the planet. And Junglekeepers wants to keep it that way !
The forest at Las Piedras is home to tens of millions of trees, untold numbers of animals and many indigenous communities as well. However, in recent years new roads have been build through the forest, trees have been logged, animals have been poached and the land has been mined for gold, all of this illegally. This has resulted in a serious degradation of this ancient forest that is the source of life in the region.

So how does Junglekeepers try to stop the damage from going any further? Well, it buys up land and patrols it to stop invaders from causing any more damage. And by the end of 2024, it had been able to buy up 107'000 acres of forest and keep it safe. So the strategy works! Congratulations to the whole team for this wonderful and promising achievement!

Junglekeepers' objective is to create an uninterrupted, protected conservation area along the Las Piedras river of over 300'000 acres (about 1'214 km2). Planeta Foundation wishes to help them achieve this goal. How about you?
